Color Guard & Winter Guard is a performance art. We visually bring music to life through dancing, acting and other interpretive movement along with the use of flags, rifles, sabres, other equipment and props.



Our flagpoles are made of aluminum and are 5.5 feet long. 

Silks (flags) can sometimes be as long 70 inches.


Our rifles are made of wood and are 37.5 inches long. 


Our sabres are 36 inches long.

Other equipment we've used: swing flags, hoops, ribbons, fan veils, life-sized tetris pieces

What do we do with all of this? We spin them, we do tricks with them, we toss them and we even throw them at each other. We incorporate rhythm, math and science to execute precise movement and technique. Our equipment and props are always pushing the laws of physics with force and speed, action and reaction. All of this is with an incredible control of time.

We get to express ourselves. Along with our creativity, we emotionally connect to the music and show you that emotion through our movement. Guard brings unity between young people from all walks of life. We are a family of various types of lifestyles and personalities that find commonality and friendship in the love for music and art. We build confidence, in ourselves and together as a team.

Color Guard & Winter Guard is well known throughout the world as the "Sport of the Arts" and we are so excited to have it here

at Oak Harbor High School!
